India - South Africa 3rd Test - A Sham
The Recently concluded 3rd test match at Kanpur was a total sham. The pitch had begun to crumble from Day-1 itself and had become what the media calls a 'dustbowl'. Under such pitch conditions, India with their decent spin attack were going to win without any doubt.
I remember a similar incident a couple of years back, in a test match between India & Australia at Mumbai. A similar dustbowl situation prevailed and India clinched the match within 3 days. Ricky Ponting was rather cross at the pitch conditions and complained to the authorities who din't obviously encourage it.
In my opinion, Graeme Smith should have complained too, rather than just saying 'India played well and so on...'. Indian fans & their team may be happy to win but look at the uselessness of it all. Nowhere in the world are you going to play on such bad pitches. It is not without a reason that we struggle when we go overseas because we have simply never created similar contions at home, not even for practice's sake!
I wonder how a India-Sri Lanka contest on the same pitch would have been. I would put my money on Sri Lanka if Muralidharan was playing.

I agree that the pitch was made to assist india spin attack . But that happens around the world .. the pitch is made to assist home team .
and to say that spin attack is secondary to pace bowling would be wrong. I know we are used to think that the gori chamdi is always better and we try to compete them in their area so that we feel competent with them .
both the captains had a chance to look at the pitch and then declare their teams. SA knew what they ll be facing in sub continent as we know what we face there ..
I ll say their pacers are no better than our spinners..let the best man win .. jo jeeta wahi sikander.
Spinner friendly pitches are fine, but you can't have really poor pitches which do not even allow a match to go on for long.
Even in Australia, you have excessively bouncy wickets, but at least there is some consistency.
The Green Park wicket had really inconsistent bounce and was a totally random pitch.
well the pitch was not prepared good and I agree to that .
My point is you cannot take away the fact that both the teams played on the same pitch ! You cannot take away the victory from India.
How a random pitch bias any particular team ?
This match only certified the fact that our spin attack is better than theirs.right ?
